Why Most Canadians Distrust Justin Trudeau

I'd assumed it was just me. But apparently not. Most Canadians disapprove of Justin Trudeau and the Canadian liberal party.

In fact, at 48%, Trudeau's approval rating is lower than that of the man every liberal loves to hate, Donald Trump, whose approval rating is currently better than 50%.

Why is this?

What has happened to the Liberal Party's so youthfully glamorous, so manfully feminist, so tolerantly Muslim-refugee-welcoming, so broad-mindedly multi-culti Justin Trudeau.

Well, apart for the boyish glam, that's just it: the liberal, globalist, PC agenda. Canadians are, it seems, mostly a pretty conservative lot. They probably think that women should account for 50 percent of Federal cabinet posts if, and only if, 50 percent of cabinet ministers chosen on merit happen to be women.

To many Canadians, the idea of a 50% female quota on some of the most important jobs in the country sounds like PC, female (and neutered male) vote-buying bullshit.

Then there's the anti-nationalist thing. "there is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada," young Justin told the New York Times. Canada is, he said, is "the first post-national state."

Yeah, well maybe Canadians don't like being told they have no nationality, no national identity, no special place to call their homeland, a place where Canadians come first, where immigrants enter the country in accordance with law designed to serve the interests of Canadians not just anyone who wants to come to Canada, there to set up their own religious and political institutions without regard for Canadian cultural and legal tradition.

And maybe, those oh so modest and quiet Canadian nationalists have a point. As UK Prime Minister Theresa May told the Conservative Party convention last October:
If you believe you’re a citizen of the world, you’re a citizen of nowhere.
A notion that many ordinary folk, perhaps the vast majority, shares at a distinctly visceral level.
